This is probably the one museum I am looking forward to visiting the least. I remember going a few years back and being completely bored. Something about all those portraits just doesn't do it for me! Hopefully I can appreciate it a bit more now that I'm older. Did you and your girlfriend enjoy it at all?
It wasn't bad, actually my girlfriend hated the portraits and i'm not that big of a fan either. The main gallery is pretty cool.
